"X," formerly known as Twitter, is a social media platform where users post and interact with messages known as "tweets." Initially launched in July 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams, Twitter rebranded to "X" in 2023 following its acquisition by Elon Musk. Key Features of X: Tweets: Users post short messages, known as tweets, that can include text, photos, videos, and links. Originally limited to 140 characters, the limit was doubled to 280 characters in 2017. Retweets and Likes: Users can share other users' tweets (retweet) and express approval (like). Retweeting helps spread content across the platform. Hashtags: Words or phrases preceded by a "#" symbol, used to categorize tweets and make them searchable. Hashtags can trend based on popularity. Threads: Users can link multiple tweets together to provide more context or tell a story, bypassing the character limit of individual tweets. Direct Messages (DMs): Private messaging feature allowing users to communicate directly with each other. Trending Topics: A list of popular subjects and hashtags that are currently being discussed on the platform. Lists and Spaces: Users can create lists to organize tweets from specific users. Spaces, introduced in 2020, are live audio conversations that users can join to listen and participate in real-time discussions.
